Reporting to the Programme Manager you will be responsible for managing the SCRUM processes of a major multi-year IT system build for this large Investment Manager. Effective interaction with the IT Development team and front-office Index Funds business users is key. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to facilitate sprint planning and execution, backlog management, requirements clarification and QA/UAT co-ordination in a fast paced environment.
Understanding the business strategy, ensuring that the high level functional features are clearly defined and progress towards them is clearly monitored and communicated.
Assisting the business users in accurately representing the associated stories in the project backlog.
Ownership of sprint planning, and managing the teams progress towards the high level functional deliverables (releases and epics).
Working with the Development Lead to estimate the relative size of deliverables and the dependencies between deliverables.
Facilitator at business workshops to clarify workflows and user stories and to ensure the material is accurately captured.
Clarification of user stories as required by the development and QA teams.
Analysis on defects and changing requirements as the project progresses, ensuring these are tracked without supervision
Continual monitoring of the agile process, identifying inefficiencies and implement improvements.
Working with the lead developer and QA to ensure that stories are fully specified and fit for development
Ensuring that the Scrum meetings and User Workshops run on a regular basis and output captured / distributed.
Stories in play and on the backlog are kept up to date on the board and in the tracking system (Jira).
Close liaison with the QA team to ensure QA readiness for stories within a sprint
Input in to the automated regression testing process
Ad hoc development and execution of tests to provide independent testing, without supervision. Alternatively support of users in executing such tests.
Provide 3rd line support, as appropriate, principally to applications in Index Funds
Mentoring/Support of other Scrum Masters within the department
Support of recruitment of new members to the project team
Key Skills / Experience
Ideally IMC, or other qualifications or courses demonstrating an interest in the business
Demonstrated history of learning, particularly in SCRUM / Agile Techniques and have worked in a financial services company as a Scrum Master / agile project manager
Demonstrated ability to: deliver complex IT systems to front-office business users; plan project sprints and manage sprint execution; co-ordinate, develop and execute test plans; work independently with users or alongside a Business Analyst to define concepts and translate these to the development team
Demonstrable ability to drill into analysis, using interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, scenarios and workflow analysis
Formal SCRUM training and experience as a Scrum Master on a complex project
Knowledge of Equities and Bonds Fund Management, Asset Allocation and Transitions
